CST-TCS320 Thermocouple Probe Type K, J, N, S, B up to 1600 °C

CST-TCS320 thermocouple probe type K, N, S

The CST-TCS320 thermocouple probe is an insertion temperature sensor with terminal head for hot gases, liquids and process media from −200 °C to +1600 °C. Types K, J, N, S and B to EN 60584 are available, in flexible mineral-insulated (MI) sheath or rigid heat-resistant alloy or ceramic protection tubes – the high-temperature solution for boilers, kilns, metallurgy, cement, ceramics and glass.

Each probe is configured to order: single or duplex element, diameter, length and protection-tube material, head type and mounting, with an optional 4–20 mA head transmitter. Equipment Industrial Solution Co., Ltd (ISE) helps you select the right thermocouple for temperature, atmosphere and installation.

Key features of the CST-TCS320 thermocouple

  • Wide range −200…+1600 °C depending on element and protection tube.
  • Types K, J, N, S, B manufactured to EN 60584.
  • Mineral-insulated (compacted MgO) sheath: fast response, field-bendable, protects wires from corrosion and moisture.
  • Rigid heat-resistant alloy or 1200 °C / 1600 °C ceramic protection tubes for very high-temperature furnaces.
  • Choice of heads (aluminium, hinged-lid, corrosion-resistant stainless), cable glands and mounting.
  • Optional head transmitters: 4–20 mA, 0–10 V or RS485 Modbus RTU.
  • CE marked for industrial environments.

High-temperature thermocouple applications

  • Boilers: furnace, flue gas and superheated steam temperature, combustion control.
  • Metallurgy: reheating, heat-treatment and annealing furnaces, aluminium melting.
  • Cement: rotary kilns, preheater towers, stacks.
  • Ceramics, bricks and glass: tunnel kilns, shuttle kilns, glass melting (type S, B with ceramic tubes).
  • Dryers, incinerators, industrial combustion chambers and hot-gas ducts.

How to choose a thermocouple type

Type Typical temperature Typical applications
Type K Up to ~1150 °C Most common: boilers, dryers, flue gas, general furnaces
Type J Low – medium temperature Plastic injection machines, moulds, reducing atmospheres
Type N Up to ~1250 °C Replaces K where long-term stability at high temperature is needed
Type S Up to ~1600 °C (ceramic tube) Ceramic and glass kilns, high-temperature metallurgy, high accuracy
Type B Very high temperature Glass melting, laboratory furnaces, special metallurgy

FAQ

Thermocouple or Pt100?

Thermocouples reach very high temperatures (up to 1600 °C) and withstand vibration and thermal shock. A Pt100 is more accurate but limited to about 600 °C. Below 500 °C prefer Pt100; above 500 °C use a thermocouple.

Does a thermocouple have a 4–20 mA output?

Thermocouples produce mV. Add a CST-HSB4300 head transmitter for 4–20 mA over ordinary cable instead of compensating cable.

Can the CST-TCS320 be installed in pressurised pipes?

No. It is an insertion type for up to about 1 bar (combustion chambers, stacks, kilns). Pressurised pipes require a dedicated pressure-rated thermowell.
