Paker Rotary Paddle Level Switch for Bulk Solids

The Paker rotary paddle level switch from Korea uses a slowly rotating paddle driven by a small motor: when bulk solids stop the paddle, the switch signals full or empty. Simple, robust and economical – widely used in feed mill silos and bins. For combustible dust, ATEX-certified versions to EN 60079-31 are used.

How a rotary paddle level switch works

Rotary paddle level switch for solids silos: top and side mounting, ATEX dust
Rotary paddle level switch for solids silos: top and side mounting, ATEX dust

Top mounting gives high-level (overfill) alarms; side mounting gives high or low-level alarms. When material clears the paddle, the motor restarts and the switch resets.

Applications

  • Bran, maize, soybean meal and pellet silos in feed mills.
  • Cement, lime, dry sand and plastic pellet bins.
  • Feed hoppers ahead of pellet presses.

Combustible dust safety

Bran and grain dust can form explosive atmospheres. Silo interiors are often classified Zone 20/21 under 1999/92/EC, requiring ATEX dust-certified equipment.
