A radar level transmitter sends 26 GHz microwaves to the liquid surface and measures the echo time to calculate level – non-contact and unaffected by temperature, pressure, vapour or dust. Ranges up to 30 m or 70 m, ±3 mm accuracy, 4–20 mA/HART and RS485 Modbus output. ISE supplies radar level transmitters compliant with European standards ETSI EN 302 372 and EN 61326-1.
How a radar level transmitter works
The device emits microwave pulses, receives the surface echo and calculates distance d = c·t/2; level = tank height − d. Because microwaves travel at the speed of light, the result is practically independent of temperature, pressure and gas composition.

Choosing the right level technology
Applications
- Chemical, oil and solvent tanks; tanks with vapour or high temperature.
- Water tanks, wastewater basins, wells.
- Solids silos (solids radar versions).
Installation
- Avoid the tank centre (focused echoes) and the filling stream.
- Keep clear of the wall per the antenna beam angle; avoid obstacles in the beam.
- Short nozzle, antenna protruding below the nozzle.
