Saturated Steam Temperature Table by Pressure

The saturated steam temperature depends directly on pressure: the higher the boiler pressure, the higher the steam temperature. This saturated steam table helps boiler operators and engineers select instruments, set controls and check boiler performance.

Saturated steam temperature vs pressure (reference values)

Gauge pressure (bar g) Absolute pressure (bar a) Saturation temperature (°C)
0 1.0 100
1 2.0 120.2
2 3.0 133.5
3 4.0 143.6
4 5.0 151.8
5 6.0 158.8
6 7.0 165.0
7 8.0 170.4
8 9.0 175.4
9 10.0 179.9
10 11.0 184.1
12 13.0 191.6
15 16.0 201.4
20 21.0 214.9

Approximate values from standard steam tables (absolute ≈ gauge + 1 bar).

Why the saturated steam table matters

  • Choosing temperature ratings for sensors, valves, level gauges and transmitters on steam lines.
  • Pressure/temperature compensation in steam flow measurement – see the vortex steam flow meter.
  • Checking boiler operation: if measured temperature is above saturation at a given pressure, the steam is superheated.
