The DMS-XLT rotary paddle level switch provides reliable high/low level detection in silos, bins and hoppers holding bulk solids such as cement, stone powder, sand, fly ash, plastic pellets, bran, grain and animal feed. It is rugged and dust-proof (IP65), powered by 220 VAC or 24 VDC, with a 5 A relay contact that connects directly to a PLC, alarm horn or conveyor / screw-feeder control circuit.

How does a rotary paddle level switch work?
A geared motor turns the paddle through a spring clutch. While the silo is empty the paddle rotates freely. When material rises and covers the paddle, the resistance stops it; an internal micro-switch changes the contact state and switches the motor off. When the level falls, the torsion spring resets the mechanism and the paddle starts rotating again. Sensitivity is adjusted via the spring tension to suit materials of different bulk density.

Installation guidelines
- Mount on the silo side wall for high/low level, or on the roof (with a long shaft) for high level.
- Point the cable entry downwards and tighten the cable gland to keep water out.
- Use the supply voltage shown on the nameplate; the switched load must not exceed 250 VAC – 5 A.
- Avoid mounting directly below the filling inlet. If unavoidable, fit a protective canopy above the paddle at least 150 mm from the housing.

FAQ
Which materials is a paddle level switch suitable for?
Powders, granules and pellets with a bulk density of 0.4 g/cm³ or more, such as cement, sand, stone powder, plastic pellets, bran and grain. Special paddles are available for lighter materials.
Should I choose 220 VAC or 24 VDC?
Choose 220 VAC when powered directly from the electrical panel; choose 24 VDC when sharing the supply with the PLC and sensors in the control cabinet.
What shaft length do I need?
Side-wall mounting usually uses a short 100–200 mm shaft; for roof mounting choose the length to match the alarm level, up to 1000 mm.
